About the Project
Before They Went Viral is an early signal intelligence platform — we find content, products, and trends that are about to explode before the mainstream catches on.
Every signal on this site links to a full article explaining why we think it will go viral, what the data shows, and who should be paying attention.
⚡ We update daily. New signals are added every day as we find them across Reddit, X, Product Hunt, YouTube, and the broader internet.
How we find signals
We monitor patterns across the internet — tracking engagement velocity, breakout communities, unusual engagement spikes, and qualitative cues that something is gaining traction before it tips into mainstream awareness.
We look at:
- Reddit communities — posts gaining traction in niche subreddits before hitting r/all
- Product Hunt launches — tools and products with unusual early velocity
- X/Twitter — threads, accounts, and posts generating disproportionate engagement
- YouTube — videos trending in specific categories before going mainstream
- News and newsletters — emerging stories before they become headlines
How signal scoring works
Each signal gets a score from 0-100 based on engagement velocity, community growth rate, and qualitative indicators. Scores above 80 are "exploding" — already past the early adopter phase. Scores 60-80 are "hot" — building fast. Scores 31-60 are "warming."
Who runs this
We're a small team of data-obsessed people who got tired of missing the early signals. We believe the internet rewards the early — and we want to help you get there first.
